Devarshi Roadies Audition: Why Is He Trending Again?

If you watched MTV Roadies during the Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman era, chances are you remember Devarshi Patel.

Years before short-form videos and viral reels became part of everyday internet culture, the Devarshi Roadies audition had already become one of those unforgettable moments that Roadies fans kept talking about.

His confidence, unexpected answers, singing, memorable comments and completely unpredictable interaction with Raghu and Rajiv made his audition stand apart from the hundreds of contestants who appeared before the Roadies judges.

More than 16 years later, interest in Devarshi Patel Roadies and his famous audition has returned.

So, who exactly is Devarshi Patel, what happened during his Roadies audition, did he actually become a Roadie, and where is he now?

Here’s the story behind one of the most memorable auditions from the old-school Roadies era.

Who Is Devarshi Patel From Roadies?

Devarshi Patel was a contestant on MTV Roadies Season 6 – Hell Down Under.

He appeared for the Ahmedabad auditions for the sixth season of Roadies, where contestants were being evaluated by Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman.

Devarshi wasn’t just someone whose funny audition was aired for entertainment. He successfully made it through the selection process and was selected as a Roadie from Ahmedabad. Contemporary records of the Ahmedabad selection list include Devarshi alongside Samrat Kaushal, Vicky Arora and Bhanu Pratap.

But it was his audition that would ultimately become one of the most remembered parts of his Roadies journey.

Devarshi Patel Roadies Audition: What Happened?

Devarshi’s Roadies story reportedly started almost by accident.

In a 2026 retrospective interview with Brut, Devarshi recalled hearing about the Roadies auditions in Ahmedabad on the radio.

He arrived without much preparation and joined a huge line of aspiring contestants. According to his recollection, there were nearly 10,000 people trying their luck, and he spent around eight hours waiting through the process.

He first had to make it through the group discussion stage.

Devarshi later recalled that the GD involved a discussion about relationships. After getting through that stage, he eventually reached the personal interview that Roadies fans would remember for years.

And sitting across from him were Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman.

Why Did the Devarshi Roadies Audition Become So Famous?

The audition was memorable because it didn’t feel like a conventional reality-show audition.

Devarshi appeared extraordinarily confident and gave answers that repeatedly caught Raghu and Rajiv off guard.

One moment involved something as ordinary as borrowing a pen.

Devarshi essentially argued that if he borrowed a pen from somebody, that person would remember him even years later.

At the time, the statement sounded bizarre enough to become part of the humour surrounding the audition.

Years later, it became strangely prophetic.

When Devarshi reunited with Raghu and Rajiv, they could still remember the pen story. Devarshi even arrived with a customised pen as a callback to the original moment.

Considering fans are still searching for Devarshi Roadies more than a decade later, his claim about being difficult to forget turned out to be remarkably fitting.

Devarshi’s Famous Rock On Performance

Another memorable part of the Devarshi Roadies audition was his performance.

During the audition, Devarshi enthusiastically performed a rendition connected to Rock On!!, which led to some classic reactions from Raghu and Rajiv.

Devarshi told Brut years later that he hadn’t realised the performance would become something people would continue remembering long after the episode aired.

His singing, confidence and the panel’s reactions helped turn the audition into exactly the sort of unpredictable television that defined the classic Roadies audition episodes.

Ayushmann Khurrana Told Devarshi He Was Selected

There’s another interesting connection to Roadies history that many newer fans may not know.

According to Devarshi’s recollection, after completing his group discussion, he didn’t even stay around waiting for the result.

He went to sleep.

Then his phone rang.

The person informing him that he had been selected for the next stage was Ayushmann Khurrana, who was involved with the Roadies auditions at the time.

Devarshi recalled being told:

“Boss, you are selected.”

That phone call ultimately took him toward the audition room with Raghu and Rajiv and, eventually, onto Roadies itself.

Was Devarshi Patel Actually Selected for Roadies?

Yes. Devarshi Patel was selected for MTV Roadies Season 6.

This sometimes gets overlooked because his audition became more famous than his actual journey on the show.

Devarshi was one of the contestants selected from Ahmedabad for Roadies 6 – Hell Down Under.

Season 6 ultimately featured 20 selected contestants and took the Roadies journey to Australia. The season was eventually won by Nauman Sait.

So Devarshi wasn’t simply an unusual audition clip shown on television — he genuinely earned his place as a Roadie.

What Happened to Devarshi in Roadies 6?

Devarshi’s Roadies journey didn’t last until the finale.

One of the notable moments from his time on the show involved the coffin task. In an interview from around the time of the season, Devarshi explained that he volunteered for the coffin because he believed the contestant entering it might receive immunity.

Instead, the decision contributed to the end of his Roadies journey.

Looking back, he described volunteering for the coffin and voting against Nauman as two mistakes he made during the competition.

Yet, somewhat unusually for reality television, not reaching the finale didn’t stop Devarshi from becoming one of the season’s most remembered personalities.

For many viewers, the audition itself became his legacy.

Devarshi Patel Meets Raghu and Rajiv Again After 16 Years

The story received a new chapter years later.

In 2025, Devarshi Patel reunited with Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman after approximately 16 years and recreated several moments from his original Roadies audition.

And yes, the pen returned too.

During their reunion, Raghu and Rajiv recalled Devarshi’s old claim that somebody lending him a pen would remember him years later.

This time, Devarshi gave them a customised pen.

Raghu eventually acknowledged something amusing about the original prediction: after all those years, they did still remember him.

The reunion generated a wave of nostalgia among fans who had watched Roadies during the Raghu-Rajiv era.

Where Is Devarshi Patel Now?

Devarshi’s life after Roadies took several different directions.

According to his 2026 Brut profile, he worked in advertisements and short films, completed an MBA, and later moved into marketing and recruitment. The profile also reports that he runs a digital marketing agency.

He now describes himself using another characteristically Devarshi phrase:

“Inspirational comedian.”

He explained during his reunion with Raghu and Rajiv that he wanted to combine comedy with positive or inspirational messages rather than simply making jokes at someone else’s expense.

His personal life has changed as well.

Devarshi revealed during the reunion that he is now married, and amusingly, his wife’s name is Devashri.

Did Devarshi Face Trolling After Roadies?

Yes.

Becoming memorable on reality television also brought Devarshi negative attention.

During their reunion, Raghu and Rajiv acknowledged that Devarshi had received both attention and hate following his appearance on Roadies.

Asked about people who mocked him, Devarshi said that he preferred to respond with “ignorance” and not give the negativity his attention.

That adds another dimension to why his audition is interesting today.

What audiences considered strange or unintentionally funny in 2008 became the very thing that made Devarshi instantly recognisable years later.

Why Is Devarshi Roadies Trending Again?

Interest in the Devarshi Patel Roadies audition has never completely disappeared, but several recent developments have helped introduce the clip and his story to another generation.

His 2025 reunion with Raghu and Rajiv recreated famous moments from the audition and generated nostalgic reactions from old Roadies viewers. Then, in March 2026, Brut published a new retrospective in which Devarshi revisited how the Ahmedabad audition happened and what followed afterward.

At the same time, Roadies itself is entering another cycle of attention with Roadies Rebirth Season 21.

That combination of nostalgia surrounding classic Roadies and excitement around the new season gives viewers another reason to revisit auditions from the Raghu-Rajiv era.

And few auditions are remembered quite like Devarshi’s.

Devarshi’s Audition vs Roadies Rebirth Auditions

Roadies has evolved considerably since Devarshi walked into the audition room.

His audition came from an era strongly associated with the intense personal interview format involving Raghu and Rajiv.

Now the franchise is preparing for Roadies Rebirth Season 21, with a new generation of contestants attempting to earn their place on the show.

Why Fans Still Remember Devarshi Patel

Roadies has featured thousands of audition hopefuls over the years.

Only a small number remain instantly recognisable years after their audition aired.

Devarshi is one of them.

He didn’t need to win Roadies to become part of the show’s pop-culture memory. His confidence, unusual logic, singing, humour and unpredictable exchanges with Raghu and Rajiv made the Devarshi Roadies audition different from almost everything around it.

Perhaps the best summary comes from Raghu himself.

When the two met again years later, Raghu reflected on Devarshi’s old claim about people remembering him and essentially acknowledged that what once sounded strange had turned out to be true.

More than 16 years later, people are still watching.

And they’re still searching for Devarshi.
